Bodily Presence
Words, Paintings, by W. H. Oliver and Anne Munz
Bodily Presence was a collaboration between W. H. Oliver and Wellington-based painter, Anne Munz, with each poem in the volume appearing opposite a painting. The titles of the paintings are recorded at the bottom of each poem. At the time of publication, the poet and painter commented:
W. H. Oliver: They were written in response to the paintings, not as a description, but in part as a comment and, more than that, as a parallel text.
Anne Munz: For me, painting is one way of stating the ambiguity of concrete objects.
